Purpose
His Holiness Swami Chinmayananda, founder of Chinmaya Mission, stated
that teaching study classes is a way for spiritual students to deepen their
clarity in Vedantic studies. He encouraged all sincere students to share
their knowledge of universal Truth, as received from the guru, the ancient
rishis, and sacred scriptures. He inspired all to spread the light of
Knowledge, of Oneness, in all hearts, so as to transform society through
spiritual awakening.
This intensive Vedanta course furthers one’s
inner self-unfoldment, enhances one’s understanding of subtle spiritual
concepts, and helps one better serve society and conduct Chinmaya Mission’s
Vedanta study classes.

Curriculum
The course provides an overview of the lifestyle and learning that monks
of Chinmaya Mission undergo in their training. The study of Vedantic
concepts, taught in English and based on original Sanskrit texts (Bhagavad
Gita, Upanishads, and/or introductory texts), along with classes on
meditation, Sanskrit chanting, and devotional texts, guide each student
toward deeper spiritual fulfillment.
The well-balanced daily
schedule allows ample time for study, reflection, service, and solitude, so
that each student achieves internal integration and external harmony through
the confluence of karma yoga, jnana yoga, and bhakti yoga. The secluded and
serene ashram surroundings, in the midst of majestic Redwood trees and
rolling hills, is a perfect and beautiful haven for sincere spiritual
seekers.
